1977: A New Friend

Dan attends Hillcrest Primary School, a British-style private school. It is very strict and Dan, being the smallest in his class, is often picked on by teachers. He retreats into his art, carrying a box of stencils, colored pens and pencils with him everywhere. He does make a friend at Hillcrest, however: Lengai Croze. The son of a conservationist and artist, Lengai has grown up in Kenya and introduces Dan to many of its wilder aspects.
