1992: Holiday

Dan goes home to Nairobi and awaits Amy’s visit. Along with their dad, they go to Lamu, an island off the Kenyan coast. There, Dan finally relaxes and has several long heart-to-heart conversations with his sister. She urges him to remember why he got involved in Somalia in the first place – to help people via his photographs. During New Year’s, he goes to the coast with Lengai, Soiya, and Marte, an old friend from STA who is visiting. By the end of his respite, he is reporting to friends and family in a series of lengthy letters that he’s been through some very dark times but is beginning to feel better.
