1993: June 24-July 1

Dan makes what will be his final visit to Nairobi. He spends time with his old friend Tara Fitzgerald who is staying at the Eldon household and hangs out with his father who is recovering from a car accident. Both of them find Dan to be in good spirits. He says that he wants out of Somalia and is considering other options: a Reuters assignment to Bosnia, or film school in California. He calls both Amy and Kathy to chat, assuring them that he is fine. His friend and sometimes-girlfriend Soiya begins to make plans for a safari with Dan later in the summer after he calls her in London and encourages her to come to Nairobi.
